Buddy buddy buddy




Today we joined our Buddy Class, Room 24 and headed down to Bishop's Park for lunch and a play in the playground. A great time was had by everyone.

Swimming!

Every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 11am we head down to the Eastbourne pool for swimming lessons. Room 9 loves this time to have a refreshing dip and improve their swimming skills.

An awesome read!


We have just finished reading 'George's Marvelous Medicine' by Roald Dahl. We loved it! We are about to start reading 'Lucy and the Big Bad Wolf' by Anne Jung. We'll let you know what it's like...

Term 1

Wow, we are nearly at the end of week 2! Our classroom is already starting to brighten up with fabulous art and other work.









This term we have some exciting learning experiences coming up. Out major inquiry study this term is titled 'Howie Learn' and has a health and social studies focus. This topic will provide children with many opportunities to explore the different ways in which they learn. So far we have been looking at Howard Gardener's 'Multiple Intelligences' or 'Smarts' and identifying the areas of strength we each have.
We will also be looking at our 'learning switch-ons' and learning about keeping our bodies healthy by making balanced food choices.

Swimming (Week 1-6)
Every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 11am you will find us improving our swimming skills down at the Eastbourne swimming pool.



Writing

Our writing topic this term is recounts. Children will be structuring their writing by starting with an introduction, sequencing events chronologically, and finishing with a conclusion.

Mathematics
The major part of the term will be spent on numeration, addition and subtraction. Later this term we look at statistics.

Art
'Portraits' is our Art topic for this term. Children will be exploring a variety of portraiture techniques and experimenting with different tools including pencils, pastels and paint.

Homework
Children are expected to complete their homework each night, and return their homework book to school each morning. They will have 8-10 spelling words and basic facts to work on during the week. The can also write 2 words per night in a sentence. On top of this we expect fifteen minutes of reading each night.
