World Environment Day

For World Environment Day last Thursday Room 9 joined with their buddy class, Room 24, for a beach and park clean up. It turned out that the beach and park were already quite tidy (Eastbourne residents must be tidy kiwis!) however we did manage to fill a couple of rubbish bags.

In the afternoon, some Year 3 and 4 students helped Ted move some agapantha plants. These plants were no longer needed in another part of the school so we thought it a good idea to re-plant them instead of throwing them out. They are now lining the fence where the memorial gate is.

More Masterpieces

I'm sure you will agree that the standard of artwork that Room 9 children are producing is just amazing! The Year 3 and 4 team had an 'Art Attack' day last week so we could really get stuck in to some fantastic painting. These are what we ended up with! We studied Monet's famous 'Sailboats' paintings and used these as inspiration for ours.
We were focusing on:
- blending colours on the page rather than mixing up the colour beforehand.
-blending with white to create different tints of a colour
-trying to show the hazy reflection of the boats and trees in the water.

Here are Monet's paintings

Feel free to pop in and have a closer look at our paintings in the classroom.
