"Lest We Forget"

For the last 2 weeks the Year 3 and 4 team have been learning about ANZAC's and why we remember them on ANZAC Day. We have read many incredible stories about brave and courageous ANZAC soldiers. We have even heard some stories from Room 9 students who have had relatives who fought in the war.

Today we baked some ANZAC biscuits. As you can see, we had a great time making them and of course EATING THEM!

A big thankyou to the official event photographers: Sally, Ciaran and Harry.

Super Sammies!

BubbleShare: Share photos - Play some Online Games.

Today we had our Super Sammie Day! We had to create the 'Super Sammie' that we planned during class time. During our unit on 'How We Learn' we have found out about how to have healthy bodies. Eating a balanced diet is part of having a healthy body, so we designed these healthy sandwiches that used ingredients from all sections of the food pyramid.

"My sandwich has items from the food pyramid. Mostly fruits and veges (carrots and tomatoes); breads (french stick); some protein (salami) and a tiny bit of fat (margarine)" - Amy O

"I used have chili, carrot, tomatoes and lettuce which is from the vegetable part of the food pyramid. White bread and bread rolls are from the breads. Cheese, eggs and beans are from the protein group. It is healthy because I haven't got fats and oils." -Margarita

A special visitor

Today we had a very special visitor come into our classroom. Rhys has a gorgeous little puppy called 'Sarge' that came in to say hello after morning tea. Sarge seemed to love being in our classroom and definitely made himself at home. Rhys talked to us about looking after Sarge, and also showed us on the world map where Sarge's birth place is- Timaru. Even though Miss Donnelly is not a big fan of dogs, she had to admit that Sarge was 'a bit of a cutie'.

As you know, our Art topic for this term has been portraits. We have learnt to create portraits in a variety of styles. Perhaps our wackiest ones so far are these magazine collage portraits. Don't they look cool!
